Congratulations to Cesar Gonzalez for finishing his career at Lytle with a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP on Saturday morning in the 3200m.  It was a photo finish and needed a PERSONAL AND SCHOOL RECORD  to do it in dramatic fashion as he improved his best time by 5 seconds.  He ran a 9:19.78 and needed every bit of it as he got passed with 20 meters to go but somehow found the strength to edge Edwin Munoz from Kaufmann (9:19.84) for his 2nd State Individual Championship.  (photos included).

Cesar also finished 4th in the 1600m run just missing out on his 4th State medal.  He had the best single season ever by a Lytle athlete since I have been here.  He finished with 3 STATE MEDALS this year (A gold individual state championship in cross country, a silver as a team in cross and now this gold medal).  Brandon Lacy also had 3 in one year but his team medal was a bronze.  There is so much I could say about this student/athlete but it would take me a whole day to write it down.  He definitely was a blessing for me to coach and I promise you that he represented Lytle very well.  Not only on his performance but his sportsmanship.  It is funny how much attention he got on Saturday from coaches all over the state when 3 years ago no one knew his name.  A testament to his hard work.
