LHS Art Students compete in Visual Art Scholastic Event competition at East Central

This last Saturday we had 8 of our High School Art Students travel to East Central High School for the (VASE) Visual Art Scholastic Event Competition.  I am proud to announce that we had 7 of our 8 students get a rating 4 on at least 1 of their art pieces.  The highest possible score you can receive is a 4 to qualify for State Competition.  Each student had a one on one interview with an art juror where they explained the purpose and meaning of their work.  They also had to use their visual vocabulary to describe what Principles of Design & Formal Elements of Art they used in their compositions.  Although we didn’t have any student’s go on to state, all student’s did exceptional and exceeded expectations.  For being new to VASE, the students truly put their best effort into their work and made a mark for Lytle High School and its art program.  We are definitely looking forward to next year’s competition and bringing all kinds of new creativity.
