All-Area Band students audition for All-State Band; Equibel becomes Lytle's first ever All-State flute, freshman honoree

Saturday, Seniors Brandi Perkins and Dylan Martinez, and Freshman Ethan Esquibel competed against the best musicians from Area South (basically everything from New Braunfels to Brownsville) and did very well.

Brandi placed 12th out of the 40 competing clarinets, just 5 chairs away from making the All-State band.

Dylan placed 2nd out of the 10 tenor saxophones, but unfortunately, only one tenor sax from each Area goes to State, so he is the State Alternate for tenor saxophone.

Ethan was 1st out of all 25 flutes, making him Lytle High School’s first-ever All-State flute, and the first LHS freshman ever to be named to the All-State Band!

Ethan will be participating with the ATSSB All-State Band at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention February 11-14.  He will audition on the 11th to determine his chair placement in the All-State Band.

Congratulations to all three of these musicians for representing Lytle so well, and I would like to recognize Mrs. Robles, our flute expert for the work that she did helping Ethan earn his place in LHS history!
