Taken from a recent email:
Over the years, the Student Legislative Session has brought hundreds of South Texas' best and brightest high school students to Austin to spend a day in the shoes of a Texas State Legislator. Members of the 2015 class will get the chance to step into the arena of Texas politics, where the hottest issues have been debated and crafted for over a hundred and fifty years.
I would like to extend an invitation to your students to participate in an exciting opportunity, the 12th Student Legislative Session, on Monday, November 9, 2015.
From the committee hearing rooms, to the desks of Texas Legislators, to the Speaker's dais in the House Chamber, members of the 2015 class will get a hands-on feel for how the legislature works.
The class of 2015 will be the first to experience all functions of Texas Government, as students will be serving as members of the House and Senate and as lobbyists, journalists, and staff. Additionally, three students will be elected as Governor, Lt. Governor, and Speaker of the House.
