Band Does Well in First Competition

On Saturday, the Pirate Band traveled to Fredericksburg to compete in the Hill Country Marching Festival.  This is the first time ever that we have been ready to perform our complete show at a September contest (three weeks before UIL Marching Contest). This in itself was a major accomplishment.

Although we failed to place in the top 3 bands, we did receive 2nd division ratings from all three judges (UIL scale is 5 to 1). This gives us three weeks to try to make enough improvement in the show to get to a 1st Division rating and earn our first trip to UIL Area Marching since 2010.

If you see band students in the hallway, please congratulate them on a job well done.
