Skull Studios UIL documentary submission for 2024 UIL Young Flimmaker's Competition

Skull studios is pleased to announce that of the three submissions for UIL Film this year, two of them are moving on to the next rounds.

Caiden's Hope - Documentary

Caiden's Hope Foundation is a non-profit organization that financially aids families with premature babies. Caiden's Hope Foundation strives to help parents with often forgotten travel expenses associated with an extended NICU stay. Expenses can include parking at hospitals, short-term lodging, meals and fuel to travel to the hospital each day.

Judge's comments:

Very informational. This was a heart breaking but inspiring story of NICU babies. The actions, personal testimonies and illustration of hardships propelled the story forward. It is evident that hard work went into creating this documentary. Keep refining the editing. Good luck!

This film is moving straight to semi-finals!

Reminiscence - Traditional Animation

There is a pond in the middle of a vast landscape full of lost souls with forgotten lives. A lost soul is fished out by a fisherman and is aided by an angel through his memories in hopes of recovering them and taking him back home. Will he remember in time? Will the soul find its way home?

Judge's comments:

You’re off to a very good start as a film artist. Cinematography and music added to the value of this animation. Keep up the good work! I was engrossed in the color and the images. Stunning images. The artwork was interesting, colorful and the characters well drawn and animated. Well done and congrats to the group! Audio and drawing style works well.

This film is moving on to round 2.

Magic Mayo - Narrative

In a normal classroom four friends sit. One with an appetite like no other, an appetite for a mayonnaise sandwich offers to make sandwiches. Once the sandwich is ready to eat, something strange happens, an adventure of a lifetime is about to begin.

Judge's comments:

You guys seemed to have had a lot of fun making this more. I'm really glad you enjoyed your time and you shared that with me. Really love the use of the green screen, and getting imaginative with the characters, sets, props, and other things. Really showed you wanted to make something good. Good effort on this film!

Unfortunately, this video did not make it past the first round. It's a bit rough around the edges but is very entertaining.
