On Wednesday February 14, 2024, a full team of girls traveled to compete in Natalia for their last qualifying Meet. The results are as follows:
- 2nd place in 97 weight class: Mya Villarreal
- 2nd place in 123 weight class: Brianna Paredes
- 2nd place in 198 weight class: Nayelli Pacheco
It was a busy last qualifier Meet with over 160 lifters! A last qualifier meet is a lifter's last shot at making it to Regionals. For the girls to qualify for Regionals, they must rank in the Top 12 or hit a total weight. As of right now, 4 girls automatically qualified based on total weight lifted and punched their ticket to Regionals: Mya Villarreal, Brianna Paredes, Nayelli Pacheco, and Valeria Gonzalez!
What a great season for the girls with many accolades earned! Now, the team waits for numbers to settle, and see if any other girls earned a top 12 spot to Regionals. Girls Regionals will be held in Edinburg on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
On Wednesday Februaty 21, 2024, the boys will have their last qualifier Meet with a full team going to Natalia. Again, they anticipate a loaded Meet with over 160 lifters. The Meet begins at 5:30pm in the Natalia High School gym. Admission is $5. We hope to see you there! Go Pirates!
