Video thumbnail for Military Brother Surprises Sister at Lytle High School

This past fall,  Aiden Canales (Lytle class of 2022 and now Private First Class Army in the 82nd Airborne Division) reached out wanting to surprise his sister at school after not being home for the holidays for two years. In 2022, Aiden was one of my A/V students and he was the videographer and editor for a video of a father surprising his son at the primary after a long deployment. When Aiden told me he wanted to do the same for his sister, I knew I had to make it happen.

Aliana Cardenas is a freshman in my Principles of Audio-Visual Technology class. All of my students were assigned to edit their own version of the surprise video and after Aliana got her bearings in Adobe Premiere Pro, I saw that her video stood out from her peers. Since it was high enough quality to debut on the district YouTube channel I'm able to share her wonderful video that shows the culture of our district and some beautiful, somewhat humorous, moments between brother and sister. I am so proud of her, and of course, it is a full circle moment to have Aiden return to Lytle High School so successful in his military career!

Special thanks to Mrs. Stewart for giving her approval to do something like this, Mrs. McDonald for letting us interrupt her class, and Mrs. Migura for all her help!
