LADY PIRATES DEFEATED HONDO !
Last Friday, March 29, 2024, the girls defeated Hondo 21-11. The Pirates got off to a great start by scoring nine runs in the 1st. Three runs crossed in the 3rd, followed by nine more runs during the 5th and 6th innings.
The winning pitcher and catcher were Addison Criado and Giselle Esparza. They accumulated 13 hits led by Calyssa Sevier going 5 for 5 at the plate. Danica Martinez led in runs batted in (rbi's) with four going 3 for 5. While Payton Devaney went 2 for 5. They also showed patience and discipline at the plate, piling up ten walks for the game. Leading the game in steals was Isabella Muraira with two of the Pirate’s 6.
The Pirates are now in 3rd place in the District, behind Natalia and Cotulla, and they will start the second round of District play tonight, April 2, 2024, against Crystal City in Lytle at 6 pm.
