NHS Sponsors and Officers

On April 10, 2024, NHS Sponsor, Ms. Hannalore Mueller and Art Teacher, Ms. Morgan Clyde welcomed staff, students and families to the 2023-24 Lytle National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. NHS President Fatima Montes asked all to celebrate the induction of 18 qualifying students of the senior, junior, and sophomore classes who have displayed in their school life the worthy objectives of the National Honor Society: character, scholarship, leadership, and service. Montes adds, “This year alone, the members and inductees have stepped up and served well over 3,000 hours in community and school events.”

Each inductee stood as NHS Treasurer Katara Whitfield presented the candidates for admission: Amelia Martinez, Arianna Garcia, Collin Sprenger, Danika Chapa, Diego Reyna, Emma Keenum, Gabriela Cortez, Giselle Esparza, Isabella Sewell, Jose Gomez, Karyme Cabrera, Martina Ytuarte, Micaela Heath, Nadia Daniels, Stefan Emery, Taryn McDonald, Thalia Bowman and Thomas Rubal. Klayre Cook and Janelle Young were not able to be present for the ceremony.

Warden of Character Samantha Mujica lit the first of four purple candles, which was symbolic of character. After sharing the NHS objectives of character, she concluded saying, “May you live with a character that grows and a memory that proves it so.”

Warden of Scholarship Katara Whitfield lit the candle symbolic of scholarship, which “knows of the past, learns from the present, and plans for the future.” Whitfield concluded saying, “May this longing for useful knowledge become part of your life, for the pursuit of knowledge is never ending.”

Warden of Leadership Fatima Montes lit the candle of Leadership and after explaining the full meaning, said, “We look to you who have shown some measure of leadership thus far in your high school career to accept the challenge and to become leaders.”

Warden of Service Brianna Paredes lit the candle that signifies the brightness and joy of service, the unselfish devotion of serving individuals, the school, and the nation. Paredes adds, “Today the world needs individuals who can rise above the tides of the times and serve man unselfishly. May you practice this giving of yourself to others.”

After the new members took their pledge to uphold the high purposes of the NHS, their candles were lit, they received their certificates of membership, and they signed the registry book. Special thanks to Ms. Mueller who has provided guidance for many years, and all who celebrated this special night with our Lytle High School National Honor Society members.
