The girls ended the District season last Tuesday, April 16, 2024, vs Hondo with a 5-5 record and tied for 3rd, despite Anissa Perez hitting a grand slam and Calyssa Sevier hitting a grand slam plus another two-run Homerun. The difficulty of not being able to get the third out quickly on routine plays is a struggle.

The Lady Pirates will play a playoff seeding game to determine 3rd place on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 5 pm.

The defense started well for the Pirates getting the first two batters out then three errors, a hit batter, and another error, followed by a home run gave Hondo the lead. Lytle was able to cut the lead to 2 when Anissa Perez homers with a grand slam to make the score 4-6.

Errors, again, gave Hondo runs in the 2nd making the score 4-8. Lytle answered back again, this time with Calyssa Sevier who hit a grand slam to tie up the game 8-8.

The 3rd inning gave the Pirates the lead when Sevier homers again with a runner on. The score is now 10-8. With two outs in the 4th Hondo scored two to tie up the game 10-10. In the top of the 5th, and again with two outs- errors cost Lytle runs. After an error, the next batter doubled, followed by two walks, a single, and a double bringing the score 10-15.

In the sixth inning, each team brought in a run. The score was 11-16. The 7th inning for Hondo again with two outs brought five runs in. An error, two singles, and then a homerun caused the score to be 11-21. The lead was too great as Lytle only scored one in the bottom of 7. Final score 12-21.
