Last night, April 17, 2024, the Junior High Pirates traveled down the road for another head-to-head match-up with the Hondo Owls.

The Gold team started strong with good at-bats and scoring first. Defensively, multiple arms were called upon to pitch and they answered the call. They threw strikes and trusted their defense to "make the routine plays" to help ground the Owl's offense. The bats and base running stayed aggressive and after five innings the Pirates picked up another win for the season.

Unfortunately, for the Black team, it was a different story. It was a tough night of pitching and a few costly errors on defense would help extend the innings for the Owls helped push their early lead further into the game. Offensively, the boys struggled to swing the bat and had a few costly baserunning errors.

Despite the rough night, the boys backed each other up and continued to fight till the end. Everyone would be enormously proud of these young men.

The good news is they do not have to wait long to get back out on the diamond and compete as they will once again combine teams to represent Lytle in the Natalia Tournament on Saturday, April 20, 2024! If you have yet to catch these boys in action, this weekend would be a wonderful opportunity as they are a fun and competitive group to watch and cheer for!

Final from Hondo:

Seventh Grade Gold 10 - Hondo 3

Eighth Grade Black 1 - Hondo 10
