The Lady Pirate Track team traveled to Seguin on Friday, April 19, 2024, and Saturday, April 20, 2024, to take part in the Region IV-3A Track Meet. Some of the State's Best were in attendance and these girls battled hard against some tough competition.
Sophomore Frances Scotello placed 8th in the 3200m with a PERSONAL RECORD and 9th in the 1600m just missing another personal record.
Freshman Laleina Reveira set a PERSONAL RECORD in the 800m to finish 6th and ran the 3rd leg of the 1600m Relay which placed 6th.
Sophomore Klayre Cook finished 9th in the 800m and ran the 2nd leg in the 1600m Relay.
Sophomore Svetlana Lopez ran the 1st leg in the 1600m Relay.
Senior Calyssa Sevier finished 8th in the 200m, anchored the 1600m Relay, and oh...punched her ticket to Austin placing 2nd and beating the defending Regional 400m champion, and almost captured the Regional crown just missing out by .04 of a second.
We made some adjustments after the prelims on Friday, and she executed it beautifully on Saturday. She started hard, the coaches knew that the 2 returning 2023 400m State qualifiers would pass her the last 100m and that if she just stayed relaxed and finished the race, she would have a chance. They passed her in the last 100m, but Calyssa stayed relaxed, caught them the last 5 meters, and almost edged out the 400m Champion Jayna Phillips from Yoakum.
She becomes the first Lytle female athlete to make it to the State Track Meet more than one year and this makes it 4 straight years and 15 out of the last 19 that Lytle will be represented at the State Track Meet.
