Welcome to Harvard

Catherine Hoffman, CEN P20 Coordinator, shared the following with all Lytle ISD Staff,

"I am pleased to announce that Samantha Mujica, Lytle High School senior, has received the elusive 'full-ride tuition, fees, room, board, and healthcare' to Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

As we reviewed her Award Offer, she kept looking up at me in wonder.  Unbilled- Billed- estimated cost of attendance- so many questions….but so many answers.

Samantha will major in Government but more specifically, Educational Policy. She wishes to attend law school and ultimately pursue a career at the Texas Education Agency before joining the United States Department of Education.

Harvard University has a 3.2% acceptance rate. Nearly 60,000 students applied and around 1,900 were accepted from throughout the entire world.

I have included Samantha in this email as I am sure you wish to congratulate such a prestigious feat.

When Samantha reached out to me to tell me of her acceptance a few weeks ago I was driving and had to pull over to the side of the road. I sat in silence for a long while just marveling at her accomplishment. I didn’t scream, cry, or even give a random fist bump into the sky.  I sat in an almost reverent silence. There are very few who will realize what it takes to be accepted in an Ivy League university.  It has been an honor to get to know Sam’s thoughts, beliefs, and goals through her essays and our many talks.  She, my friends, is the 'real deal'.  She is someone to whom I will confidently hand our future.

There is no force in this world greater than the power of a dream.

Thank you, Samantha, for just being you."
